WCCC Art Exhibit Gives The ‘Overlooked’ The Spotlight

remnant by Frank May is currently on exhibit. Photo provided.

Frank May, owner of M Galleries in Washington Borough, looks to the overlooked in his own sculptural work. Making use of scrap and residual metals, his abstract sculptures seek to give life to the leftovers.

May’s work is now on display in Warren County Community College’s Art Gallery. Free and open to the public during regular College hours, the exhibition, “remnant,” will run through the end of the month.

For an opportunity to meet the artist, join May at a special reception on Thursday, Nov. 14, from 5-7 p.m.

“remnant” features abstract sculptural works made from found residual composite metal. May has been compelled by the “echo of making” as subject matter for his personal work. The components seen in the exhibit are the “waste” material of other processes. With this sculptural show, he intends to sublimate the scrap.

Frank May is the owner and curator of M Galleries, located in Downtown Washington Borough, and is currently apprentice of ceramic artist Peter Callas. Frank has a BFA in Sculpture from Mason Gross School of the Arts and is on the faculty of the duCret School of Art in Plainfield.

The College is located at 475 Route 57 West in Washington Township.
