WCCC Summer Youth Enrichment Programs Promise Fun (And Learning)

Each summer, students fall out of the habit of learning, forgetting old school materials and leading to sluggish learning at the beginning of the next year. Keep your child engaged and challenged this summer in a Summer Youth Enrichment Program at Warren County Community College, a fun, educational alternative to traditional camp.

Combining learning with creative, hands-on activities, offerings include an array of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) programs, in which students 6-15 can build their own gadgets, machines, apps, games, and even worlds. Most courses include the opportunity to bring home their creations or access them online at any time.

Fans of LEGO blocks aged 7-12 will use physics concepts, robotics, and mechanics to solve everyday problems in the Motorized LEGO Maker Machines course.

A brand-new Drones & Flying Physics course, for students 8-12, introduces participants to the world of unmanned aerial vehicles. Students will explore real-world applications for drones as they learn how to build and pilot their own flying devices.

Python Programmers allows students aged 8-14 to code their own apps and games in Python, the fastest-growing programming language, favored by the likes of NASA and Google. Students will work in pairs or teams in a fun and competitive setting.

Virtual Reality: The Future is Now is a cutting-edge class that allows students 8-14 to build their own virtual worlds! Working in teams, students will craft memorable 3D experiences. Once virtual reality has been mastered, explore reality augmentation in Adventures in Augmented Reality. Watch as holograms come to life in the first ever augmented reality software for kids.

Students aged 8-14 will work in teams to design a Battle Royale-style game using professional 3D game development software in Battle Royale: Make your First Fortnite Style Video Game. The course will include cartoonish action and battle sequences. Fans of ROBLOX, the massively popular multiplayer and game design tool, will enjoy ROBLOX Makers, where students will learn to create worlds, character animations, and adventures.

Additional courses cover babysitting skills, American Sign Language, and an acting workshop. Lunch supervision is available for students registered for both morning and afternoon sessions.

Courses run in four-day blocks in July and August. For a full list of courses, program descriptions, dates and times, and registration information, please visit warren.edu.
