Anderson, Schembre, Cassels Elected To WBID Board

When the Washington Business Improvement District Board of Directors meets for its January meeting there will be three new members.

Neil Schembre, Dave Anderson and Scott Cassels were all picked in their respective categories to join the board, while Jeff Smith was re-elected.

All three new members own their own businesses in town. Schembre owns the CPA firm, Schembre & Gannon, LLC, Anderson owns Buttzville Brewing Company and Cassels owns Scotty’s Stadium Club. Jeff Smith owns Smith Tractor.

“We are really excited to welcome our three newest board members,” said Vincent “Enzo” Iannelli, President of the Washington BID’s Board of Directors. “Each one of them brings something unique to our board and in two of the cases – Scotty’s and Buttzville Brewing – we have two businesses representing the downtown district. Having someone representing the service industry in Neil Schembre is a great addition, too. And Jeff Smith has been an integral part of our board for a long time and has truly been a very important voice on our board. I look forward to working with all of them and our current members as we continue to move forward to make Washington an even better place to live and to do business.”

Anderson was elected in the Industrial Business Owner/Operator category. A lifelong resident of Warren County, he is a graduate of Warren Hills Regional High School who says that he loves his hometown of Washington. In 2013 he and his wife got married, and both became wine tasters, and then that moved into the love of beer in Christmas of 2013 when his wife gave him a pot and a bucket for homebrewing and making beer. He joined a homebrew club and eventually decided he wanted to open a brewery and after much planning and finding the right location in Washington, opened in July 2021.

Schembre was selected in the Owners of assessed apartment or commercial property who are landlords of the property category. A Certified Public Accountant, Schembre has been in business for himself for almost 30 years and expanded his business in 2018 to Washington. He has been a sponsor and supporter of the WBID and its events since his arrival in Washington. Now as a property owner and business owner, he is looking forward to being more involved with the business community.

Cassels captured first in the Business Owner Who Owns Their Property category. He has operated Scotty’s Stadium Club for 28 years. Cassels is a supporter of the local Girl Scout troop of which his daughter belongs, and also supports local youth sports leagues. He is also a proud supporter of the Washington Fire Department and Washington Police Department along with St. Jude’s Hospital. Cassels has always lended a hand to help those in the community and has served on the Festival in the Borough committee every year for the 18 years of the event.

Smith was re-elected in the Professional Business Owners At Large bracket. A lifetime Warren County resident, Smith is a Warren Hills Regional High School graduate. He manages a successful 3rd generation family run tractor dealership and has been on the Washington BID Board for many years, serving on the Executive Committee as Secretary for 3 years and as Vice President for 2 years. He currently serves as Treasurer.
