Author Series Highlights Poems of Stephen Dunn

The Warren Community College Visiting Authors Series resumes at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14, with a special online reading of poems by Stephen Dunn (pictured). This event, held in partnership with Murphy Writing of Stockton University, can be accessed through the link found below. It is free and open to the public.

Dunn, who passed away June 24th on his 82nd birthday, received the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry, the Academy Award for Literature, the James Wright Prize, and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. A beloved figure in New Jersey literary circles and well beyond, Dunn is remembered fondly and admiringly. During this tribute reading, several of his friends and colleagues will each give voice to one of his poems.

Readers at this event include Subhaga Crystal Bacon, Barbara Daniels, MaryLisa DeDominicis, Madeleine Deininger, Emari DiGiorgio, Gregory Djanikian, Penny Dugan, Martin Farawell, Kathleen Graber, Robert Gregg, Kimberly Grey, Jim Haba, James Hollis, Lisa Honaker, Gerry LaFemina, Dorianne Laux, Bryon MacWilliams, Laura McCullough, Benjamin Paloff, Maxine Patroni, Wanda Praisner, Lawrence Raab, Charles Rafferty, Christine Salvatore, and Mimi Schwartz. This event is intended to honor the rich oeuvre he has left us and is appropriate for both Dunn fans and others who want to become familiar with this late poet’s significant work.

The event will be co-hosted by Peter E. Murphy, Founder of Murphy Writing of Stockton University, and BJ Ward, Professor of Creative Writing and Director of the Warren Community College Visiting Authors Series.

The Visiting Authors Series is supported by a grant from the Warren County Division of Cultural & Heritage Affairs. All physical site facilities comply with ADA regulations and are fully accessible. Sign language interpretation for any VAS event is available with one week’s notice.
