Teen Crafts, Spooky Crafts At Warren Library

A special teen craft class will be held at the Catherine Dickson Hofman Branch of the Warren County Library on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 4 p.m.

The library branch is located at 4 Lambert Rd., Blairstown.

The class is being held for young people between 10 and 18 years old. It will be abstract in form in honor of the birthday of Pablo Picasso.

Flying ghost

Artistic types who love Halloween will have opportunities to create a flying ghost at all four Warren County Library branches.

The craft is open to all ages, but small children will need some assistance.

The craft will be taught at the Catherine Dickson Hofman branch in Blairstown on Thursday, Oct. 13 at 4 p.m.; at the Southwest Branch in Stewartsville on Friday, Oct. 14, at 3:30 p.m.; at the Richard D. Gardner Branch in White Township on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 11 a.m., and at the Northeast Branch in Independence Township on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 2 p.m.

Asian Tea

Tea in China and Japan is enjoyed in many forms from a simple bowl of tea to the beautiful and intricate tea ceremony. Learn about everyday tea drinking, the Chinese tea ceremony, and the Japanese tea ceremony at the Southwest Branch in Stewartsville on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 11 a.m. with Judith Krall-Russo. There will be a tea making demonstration, and a selection of Asian tea implements will be on display. Recommended for adults.

Haunted History

Historian Greg Caggiano will present “other side” of history in a virtual program sponsored by the Warren County Library on Tuesday, Oct. 18, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Caggiano is a seasoned paranormal investigator who has always been interested in things that go bump in the night at historic sites in New Jersey. He has served on the boards of two haunted museums. Profiled in his presentation will be a Royal Governor’s former residence, a Victorian mansion, a house with Revolutionary War notoriety, a cemetery, a legendary road, and even a college campus. And what would a Halloween-themed talk be without a visit from the Jersey Devil? History and myth intertwine in this spooky program. Recommended for adults.

Pine Barrens

Celebrate local folklore with New Jersey-born poet, Kailey Tedesco on Saturday Oct. 22 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Southwest Branch meeting room.

Tedesco, who now lives in the Lehigh Valley, is an adjunct professor at Northampton County Community College and the author of three poetry books. Her latest manuscript returns to her roots and

to her interest in the Jersey Devil. She will delve deeply into this spooky legend and take you on a literary tour of the Pine Barrens. The program is geared toward adults.

Spooky Crafts

All four branches of the Warren County Library will be the scene of a “Spooktacular” family craft in October in honor of the Halloween season.

The craft at the Catherine Dickson Hofman Branch will be Thursday, Oct. 13, at 4 p.m.; at the Southwest Branch, Friday, Oct. 14, at 3:30 p.m.; at the Richard D. Gardner Branch, Saturday, Oct. 15, at 11 a.m., and at the Northeast Branch, also Saturday, Oct. 15, at 2 p.m.
