U.S. Poet Laureate Wows ‘Em At WCCC

Tracy K. Smith, the United States Poet Laureate, wowed a crowd of over 200 people at Warren County Community College as part of the College’s Visiting Authors Series, on Dec. 6. The evening included a reading by Smith, Q&A’s with the audience, and a book signing. Among her many publishing credits Smith is the author of the critically acclaimed memoir Ordinary Light (Knopf, 2015), a finalist for the 2015 National Book Award in Nonfiction and selected as a Notable Book by the New York Times and Washington Post, as well as three books of poetry including her latest, Wade in the Water (Graywolf, 2018). In 2017, she was appointed just the 22nd United States Poet Laureate of the United States of America. The WCCC Visiting Authors Series is supported by a grant from the Warren County Cultural and Heritage Commission. Warren County Community College offers students the option of earning an Associate of Fine Arts in Creative Writing, the first and only degree of its kind in New Jersey and a member program of the Association of Writers and Writing Programs (AWP).  For more information about the A.F.A. in Creative Writing, please visit www.warren.edu or call 908-835-WCCC.
