Warren County Library Schedules A Host of Events

Many doings at the Warren County Library in the coming weeks, starting tomorrow!

The Warren County Library presents two animal-oriented programs this week.

On Monday, Sept 27, at 6:30 p.m., storyteller Laura Kaighn of Lady Hawke Storytelling will tell animal tales and convey nature facts in a virtual program for school age children and adults.

She will also present an animal-oriented craft. Children less than 7-years-old may need some assistance with the craft. Registration is through Kim Urban at 908-818-1280 or kurban@warrenlib.org

Cats

On Tuesday, Sept. 28, at 7 p.m., the library will present “Decoding the Mysteries of Cats<” with feline behaviorist Stephen Quandt. He will explain cat behavior from the perspective of the evolutionary and adaptive forces that shape their lives. After his half-hour Power Point presentation, he will take questions on specifics of cat behavior. This program is for ages 18 and up.

Quandt is the former Feline Behavior Coordinator for the Animal Care Center of NYC. Register with Christine at cwilliams@warrenlib.org.

The library is running a reading challenge on Beanstalk from Sept. 27 to Oct. 3. 

Card holders of all ages can participate. Kids through third grade can log the number of books they read. Tweens, teens and adults will lot the amount of time they spend reading. Readers will earn badges for logging in the reading, completing an activity or submitting a book review. Badges will be submitted for a drawing at the end of October. 

Kids can also come to the any library location for scavenger hunts and to find the hidden library mascot. Check the library calendar for all in-person outdoor or virtual events. Register with Lina Crowell at crowell@warrenlib.org. 

Frida Kahlo 

To commemorate Hispanic Heritage Month, the library will present a virtual program on Frida Kahlo on Friday, Oct. 1, at 6 p.m. 

Presenter Janet Mandel will discuss Kahlo’s works through the lens of her ethnicity, disabilities and political activism, emphasizing her engagement with the natural world. Mandel says her paintings illustrate the anguish and passion of a fascinating, complicated personal and artistic life. Register with Kim Urban at 908-818-1280 or kurban@warrenlib.org. 

Storytime in the Park 

The Southeast Branch of the Warren County Library will present outdoor storytime at Thomas Stewart Park on Wednesday, Sept. 29, from 11 to 11:45 a.m. 

The park is at 112 Greenwich Street, Stewartsville and the group will meet near the pavilion. Registration is not required. 

Dragon Mason Jar Craft

The library invites kids 8-years-old and up to create a dragon mason jar craft outside at the Catherine Dickson Hofman branch on Thursday, Sept. 30, 

Using paint and glitter kids will be able to put a silhouette of a dragon on a mason jar. The craft is free but registration is required and social distancing is required. Register with Christine at cwilliam@warrenlib.org.
