Washington BID Revs Up With Full Throttle as Business of the Year

Kimberly and Robbie MacKay of Full Throttle accept their award as Business of the Year from WBID Board Vice President Dan Rossi, left, and Board President, Dave Andersen, on right.

There are many businesses that say they don’t want to be just another business in their community, but be a part of it. Many of those businesses fail to live up to those expectations. Then there is Full Throttle Automotive and Cycle Service in Washington Borough.

Besides being a hugely successful business here in the Borough, what sets them apart from others is their dedicated commitment to community.

It is that unique combination that Full Throttle was chosen as the Washington Business Improvement District’s Business of the Year.

The WBID’s annual awards dinner was held at Hawk Pointe Golf Club on Feb. 8.

In addition to Full Throttle, this year’s honorees were The Meat Shoppe by Arctic Foods, Redevelopment Award, Ellen Perkins of Gaia’s Gifts, Business Person of the Year, and photo journalist Cathy Miller as the WBID’s Community Partner.

Owners Robbie and Kimberly MacKay have made it their mission to be involved in a town where businesses can work together and make Washington Borough a place for local and surrounding communities to “shop and explore our quaint town,” they say.

Indeed, it is very important for them to build partnerships within local businesses such as they have with Dunkin Donuts, William’s Irish Tavern, Scotties Stadium Club, We Squeeze to Please, Up Cycle Candles, Haywire Engraving and The Smashed Olive.

“We want to give a shout out to our biggest partners, our Brothers and Sisters from Tires Against Tumors and The Grey Ribbon Riders who have been by our side since day one,” said the MacKays.

The appreciation was truly returned at the WBID dinner as many of their partners, friends, and associates turned out for the event.

“It’s our mission to give back,” they said.

Giving back was never been more apparent in their commitment to Toys for Tots! With friends, family, colleagues and others rallying around Full Throttle, thousands of gifts were donated to needy children through this past December’s Operation Toy Train.

With the opening of their new expanded location in the Borough last April Full Throttle added a retail store. It was their intention to make Full Throttle a one stop shop with all your repair work and now the advantage of providing motorcycle apparel, accessories and parts.  And that’s exactly what they’ve done. And with Rob having over 30 years experience in the mechanic world and Kim having  over 30 years experience in the retail, marketing and customer service industry, mesh them together and you have Full Throttle Cycle Services!

As they continue their success, thriving but staying focused on that one on one individual service that they provide is important to them and their ever growing loyal and growing customer base.

Full Throttle certainly isn’t limited to just Washington. They are out vending all over NJ and PA every weekend. It is not just about growing their business , more importantly, they want the world to see what good bikers really do for their communities, that they are caring individuals that are willing to donate or ride for a cause.  Whether it is to help the veterans, families that have children with childhood diseases, families that just need financial aid or providing toys for the less fortunate.

Local officials celebrated the achievements with this year’s Washington Business Improvement District’s Awardees. From left to right, Sen. Doug Steinhardt,  Robbie and Kimberly Mackay, Cathy Miller, Amanda Rossi-Logan, Mark Rossi, Ellen Perkins, Washington Borough Councilman Chris Infinito, Warren County Commissioners James Kern III and Jason Sarnoski, and Borough Mayor Ethel Conry.
