The Garden State Journalists Association recently announced the winners of its 2020 Awards Competition and Inside Warren and its staff were recognized in several categories. 

Photo-journalist Cathy Miller took first place prizes in three categories and Melanie DeStefano, Inside Warren’s Managing Editor, earned a first place award as well. Veteran sports columnist Andy Loigu grabbed a third place prize. 

In addition, DeStefano was a first place winner for public relations and strategic marketing firm, CHP Communications, sister company of Inside Warren, for her press release writing. 

Journalists and PR companies from throughout New Jersey are invited to submit entries to this annual competition. Inside Warren and CHP Communications have both been recognized with winning entries many times in the past.

“Any time you are recognized by a great industry organization such as the Garden State Journalists Association it is a good feeling,” said Dan Hirshberg, President of CHP Communications. “Knowing that your peers in the business recognize what you are doing and reward you for your efforts is truly an honor.”    

Loigu noted that for him it’s about “trying to do your best every day with a focus on doing what’s right and helpful to the community.”

Added Miller, whose Inside Warren Person of the Week column is highly regarded in the community, “It’s a thrill to know that my work behind the camera actually touches people. To be acknowledged for something I’ve created is quite an honor!” 

“Cathy and Andy’s love for this community shines through in their articles and photos,” said DeStefano. “I’m so excited that they’ve been recognized for their hard work. We are so lucky to have them.”
