Pulitzer-Winning Jhumpa Lahiri Next Reader in Authors Series

Pulitzer Prize-winner Jhumpa Lahiri is the author of <em>The Namesake </em>and <em>Interpreter of Maladies</em>.

Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jhumpa Lahiri will be the last “visiting author” this semester at Warren Community College. The virtual event will include a reading and interview. It is free and open to the public, will take place on Thursday, Nov. 19, at 7 p.m.

Lahiri, the director of Princeton University’s Creative Writing Program, received the Pulitzer Prize in 2000 for “Interpreter of Maladies,” her debut story collection that explores issues of love and identity among immigrants and cultural transplants. Her stories and books have been recognized internationally. She has earned the Frank O’Connor International Short Story Award, O. Henry Prize, PEN/Hemingway Award, the DSC Award for South Asian fiction, and the National Humanities Medal, among many others. Additionally, her novel has, “The Namesake” was turned into a film of the same name. She writes in English and Italian.

After the interview, Lahiri will be interviewed about her writing by WCC professors Karry Frabizio and Brian Bradford. A brief Q&A will also follow.

The Visiting Authors Series is supported by a grant from the Warren County Division of Cultural & Heritage Affairs. All physical site facilities comply with ADA regulations and are fully accessible. Sign language interpretation for any VAS event is available with two weeks’ notice.
